Designers Emily Current and Merritt Elliott—the duo behind LA-based label Current/Elliott which launched the slouchy, boyfriend jean, rolled at the cuff—let Style File know that the jean is just one take of their "vintage-y, Americana, relaxed-denim mood."
For spring, you'll see "New iterations of the style...along with a ruffled denim swimsuit that’s proven, in the girls’ estimation, 'surprisingly popular,' and a whole lot of chambray and cream-toned jeans." The blog is particularly partial to the Elliott, "a pair of slouchy skinnies [pictured here] that translate the Current/Elliott idiom into a new silhouette."
The designers have been watching the boyfriend knockoffs roll out, but Elliott notes: ”The nice thing about continuing to work as stylists is that all that stuff is on our radar, and we can stay one step ahead.”
