Ann Taylor on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills has prominent 'For Lease' signs
We heard late last week about this email, but hadn't actually seen it—a collection of information that was at its best outdated and at its worst false. WWD reports what concerned many retailers about an email circulating recently was the fact that "The e-mail contended stores that are planning to close after Christmas are still selling gift cards that won’t be honored after Jan. 1." It falsely stated that J.Jill is shuttering when parent company "The Talbots Inc., said it has put the chain up for sale." Ann Taylor was also on the list, which announced last January that it was going "to close 117 underperforming stores over a three-year period," but "its gift cards will continue to be honored at all of its stores as well as on its Web site."
