Pop-Ups: Toms Shoes Extends Stay on Abbot Kinney

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We finally got over to the Toms Shoes pop-up shop at 1617 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, which is extending its stay in the temporary space through January. Social Media Manager Caitlin Coble told Racked that since they've had a steady flow of people continuing to come in that it seemed to make sense to stay through the holidays, especially since the philanthropic shoe co. (for every pair sold, they give one to a child in need) is working toward giving 30,000 pairs to Ethiopia to combat Podoconiosis.

The pop-up acts not only as a retail space but a place where people can learn about the company, the who/what/where/why behind its mission. Blake Mycoskie is behind it all, and he was there greeting and chatting with folks who showed up for the event, specifically geared toward bloggers. We tried a pair on and, have to say, the shoes are amazingly comfortable, and we were impressed by new sparkly styles in pewter and bronze.
