Party (S)hopping: Chanel's Ever Textural Allure at Decadestwo

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The 5th annual Chanel event at Decadestwo called for pearls and Parisian couture, all of which would have put a smile on Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel’s face. Two large rooms overflowing with hundreds of vintage Chanel pieces, that may be worth repeating, hundreds of vintage Chanel pieces, in mint condition, looked more like a MOMA fashion exhibit than a shopping event.

Champagne and crepes, both savory and sweet, were appropriately passed while guests were fixated on tweeds, quilted bags, beaded dresses, patent toed shoes and all other sorts of luxurious archives from the Parisian fashion house awaiting new owners to have and hold, love and cherish.

The sale is open to the public starting today! Feel free to print this post and leave it on the fridge for “subtle” holiday gift suggestions.
