Party (S)hopping: Jason Wu Woos at Satine

Last night, NYC designer Jason Wu—a finalist for this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award (awarded to Alexander Wang and Vena Cava)—packed a full house at Satine, luring everyone from January Jones, China Chow, and Erika Christensen to Rachel Zoe, Amanda Goldberg, Cameron Silver, and Kate Mara with his spring '09 collection. Lucy Liu and MySpace Fashion hosted the trunk show.

Wu, in sharp blazer, skinny tie and denim, worked the room with ease and a friendly manner. As to how Wu sees LA in relationship to his label, he told Racked: "The brand is really about global lifestyle, so I've been making an effort to travel outside New York, and spring is a great season to do it in terms of the weather." He'll even be catering his fall collection to the city with a mini collection created exclusively for Satine: "It will be slightly lighter, perhaps five or six looks, we really just had a conversation about it at this point, but I love working with boutiques. Those relationships are really important for building brand awareness."

Rachel Zoe (who, in pure Zoe form, is pulling "at least 10 racks for seven fittings this weekend") said she's in fact pulled from Wu's collection a lot recently: "It's chic and effortless. There's an ease and flow, and it's very feminine—a relaxed cool."

And we learn from All the Rage that Wu's piece will be making its way to Washington via the First Closet: "Michelle Obama...recently purchased four dresses from Wu’s spring collection. She was introduced to his line by Vogue Editor at Large Andre Leon Talley, who has been styling the soon-to-be first family."
