We hear that yesterday was the grand opening of the Sony Style store at Americana at Brand. The event took place in conjunction with a preview of Sony Electronics new PRS-700 digital reader. We were initially highly skeptical about the device—what's wrong with a good old fashion book? But we get the benefits, particularly for a student with "touch screen capability...to flip pages with the slide of a finger. In addition, readers can easily search terms within a document or book, create notes using the virtual keyboard and highlight text with the included stylus pen." But still, we'd miss the tactile experience—the smell and touch of the pages, the font, the cover art, the nostalgia of messy margin notes. [RackedWire]
