Mercado Boutique won a place in our hearts this summer when we visited during its soft opening, and we're quite pleased to see it's doing so well in a trying economic climate. The grand opening was this weekend, hosted by Project Runway Season 4 finalist, Sweet P. The party bustled while store owner Michelle Weaver stayed busy ringing up customer after customer. It's a good sign when your shoppers ignore the free booze and festivities and bee-line for the merch.
Special guest jewelry designer Jennifer Herwitt caught our attention as she displayed her love of insects with her Living Jewels Collection (check the gallery for some pretty photos). Consisting of 14kt gold ants, spiders, and scorpion charms encrusted with diamonds, the edgy accessories are dainty enough to wear everyday but luxurious enough for formal occasions.
This is exactly why we love Mercado. The lifestyle boutique constantly introduces customers to new brands that become instant favorites.
