We mentioned that Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo would be designing Louis Vuitton monogram pattern bags for the fashion house, which would come to a pinnacle in a joint Tokyo store this fall. Now Nitrolicious has posted images of the collection, which does not disappoint in Kawakubo's always forward approach. Per the post, which includes the press release about the collab project:
"Rei Kawakubo has dedicated and re-designed the entire Comme des Garcons store on Kottodori, Omotesando especially for Louis Vuitton for the duration of the project, from 4th September through mid-December, into a space that will be a celebration of the Louis Vuitton Monogram. The fruit of this unprecedented collaboration—an exclusive collection of six one-off bags—will be presented in a minimalist space, at the centre of which will be a display of historic Louis Vuitton trunks."
If you're not in Tokyo, you will be out of luck however: "The bags will only be available upon order, which is only to be placed at the 'Louis Vuitton at Comme des Garçons store.' No telephone or Internet orders will be taken." Check Nitrolicious for more pics.

1) Kanye West: West has been seen all over the fashion shows, posting this photo on his blog, giving bunny ears to Marc Jacobs. Guess it's no surprise that the performer would be entering into the celeb designing game. Per WWD, at Paris' Jardins de Bagatelle Friday for Louis Vuitton, he told the "that he's collaborating on a men's shoes line for the brand...West was dressed head to toe in his own designs, and said his women's line will follow for fall." Get ready for a ton of hype... from Kanye, that is. [WWD, subscription req]
2) Janet Jackson: We mentioned the singer is designing an intimates line. We find out a little more about the line via WWD, "Jackson plans to put a mix of fashions into her forthcoming lingerie collection, due for release at year's end." She told the pub: "It's classic, but modern with a bit of vintage inspiration." [WWD, subscription req]
Now, this is an intriguing partnership.International Herald Tribune Fashion Editor Suzy Menkes reports via The Moment: "In an extraordinary collaboration, Louis Vuitton, the ultimate French luxury brand, and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, the ultimate fashion rebel, will open a joint Tokyo store in September—an ephemeral three-month space where six one-off bags, designed by Kawakubo in LV monogram pattern, can be ordered by shoppers." What is Comme-ing? "Kawakubo described her designs as ‘party’ bags, promising multi-handles or two handles morphing into one. All will use the Monogram toile, with the LV initials, and the offerings will hark back to the styles of 30 years when Vuitton made only bags and leather goods." [The Moment]

1) Pharrell: The hip-hop star seems to have a serious interest in design, having already done some interesting projects from sunglasses and jewelry for Louis Vuitton to Pepsi cans. From Design Notes, "His latest design work, a collaboration with Domeau & Pérès, is a chair that made me blush. The design premise was sweet (true love) but the result is anything but. Sexy, yes. Sweet, not quite. The chair and other designs, including a table, will debut at Emmanuel Perrotin Galerie on October 21." The readers of Apartment Therapy aren't terribly keen on the chair either. Would this be a living room or bedroom addition for you? [Design Notes]
2) Usher: Another one-namer for you. The pop R&B singer is already creating limited-edition fragrances, but he's also got pint-sized scent ambitions. Per WWD, inspired by his six-month-old son Usher Raymond V, he's working on "...a baby fragrance with his licensee, Liz Claiborne Cosmetics." No word on potential names for the baby perfume, but perhaps Usher junior's nicknames—Cinco or Rabbit? [WWD, subscription req]
3) Kim Cattrall: How many mouth close-ups will there be? Per PR Newswire, Cattrall is the new spokesperson for SheerBliss Ice Cream—the company's claim to fame being pomegranate ice cream, "made with 100% pure natural pomegranate juice, not a juice blend." Per the release: "Ms. Cattrall will be featured in a national advertising campaign in several magazines throughout the country including Gourmet, Bon Appetit and Vogue." [PR Newswire]

Last month, we posted that Louis Vuitton was suing artist Nadia Plesner for creating T-shirts and posters to sell, with 100% of the profits going to Divest for Darfur. Recently, Louis Vuitton got in touch with The Cut to give its side of the story, underscoring that "Louis Vuitton is not trying to stop Plesner's campaign and hopes to find a solution to allow it to continue without infringing on Louis Vuitton's intellectual-property rights." Here are the highlights:
1) "[T]he fashion house initially did not ask for damages...They sent Plesner a letter asking her to respect the rights of other artists...Marc Jacobs and artist Takashi Murakami, who designed the bag. Plesner didn't respond..."
"If companies don’t take action to protect trademarks, it’s harder to do so in the future," the spokeswoman said. "I just think the way she’s portraying this she’s not telling what Louis Vuitton did to prevent the lawsuit."
2) "The spokeswoman also noted when Plesner started the campaign, she was donating 30 percent of the profits from the sale of T-shirts and posters with the image (now her Website says she's donating 100 percent of the profits)."
We're not lawyers over here, but file this under, are you trying to look like an asshole? Louis Vuitton is suing artistNadia Plesnerto the tune of $22,500 a day for creating the T-shirts and posters (shown above, featuring the Louis Vuitton-inspired handbag) to sell, with 100% of the profits going to Divest for Darfur. Plesner told TorrentFreak: "I started this campaign because of the distorted way the media prioritizes between big and small world news. How can Paris Hilton make more front covers than the genocide in Darfur? So, I 'pimped' a victim, to see if it worked. And it did!”
TorrentFreak reports that LV sent Plesner a friendly cease-and-desist letter in February, but when she wouldn't comply came on full-force with the lawsuit on April 15: "Louis Vuitton now demands $7,500 (5,000 Euro) for each day she continues to sell Simple Life products, $7,500 for each day their letter is published on the website and $7,500 a day for using the name 'Louis Vuitton' on her website. In addition they want her to pay their lawyer costs and $15,000 to cover other expenses they have incurred in protecting their ‘intellectual property’."
