Speaking of Seven For All mankind, the premium denim, apparel and accessories brand has just opened in the Malibu Country Mart, joining just-opened Sigerson Morrison to the upscale shopping area. To match the beachy vibe, Women's Wear Daily reports the company went for lighter woods and driftwood rather than the "dark wood fixtures, marble and metals" of the Robertson Boulevard and Dallas shops. All "the stores will serve as a showcase for the label's expanded product range. In addition to its core denim offering, Seven has added bags and accessories, dresses, skirts, sweaters and tops. Next up will be outerwear and the introduction of footwear next spring." As to future retail, "The brand is looking to open 100 stores in the next five years and expects to launch 10 stores this year." On a Storecasting note, "Earnest Sewn has signed to open at Malibu Country Mart by September."

Counter to rumor, Earnest Sewn is not moving into the former Left Coast Galleries Space on West 3rd Street. It seemed particularly unlikely after getting word from Racked NY last night that Earnest Sewn confirmed that it still planned to open its first LA boutique at 7501 Beverly Boulevard at North Gardner Street. Today, a West 3rd Street boutique owner tipped us to Twenty Two Shoes, which just put signage in the old gallery space. We caught up with the label's designer Chris Silverman, who is down from San Francisco to work on the new boutique. He told Racked he and his wife and co-designer, Alexandra, have been trying to get onto the street for the last four years, but have been waiting for the right space to open up. The couple started the men's and women's shoe and handbag label three years ago—having cut their teeth designing at The Gap, Old Navy and others—but have had a boutique in Oakland for six years, where they carried upmarket labels like Sigerson Morrison. They opened a San Francisco boutique a year ago, and now carry only their line in-store. Store is set to open sometime in May, with a grand opening party slated for May 22.
· Rumor Has It: Madison and Earnest Sewn Coming to West 3rd Street? [Racked]
This just in from a boutique owner on West 3rd Street: "Rumor has it that Doughboys might be the next Madison. Also, another rumor going around is that the gallery that is moving out on 3rd is going to be an Ernest Sewn store. . . the competition steps up a notch." The gallery our tipster refers to is the Left Coast Galleries, which closed its West 3rd Street shop, just west of Sweetzer, but maintains its gallery in Studio City. What's interesting about this development is that Blackburn and Sweetzer notes that the space right next to the former Doughboys is also under some major construction and "only the beams are still standing between the Doughboys space and the space right next door at 8132." Perhaps making way for a much larger retail space like Madison? [Racked Inbox]
