It's always bittersweet when an indie boutique announces a store closing sale, because while we hate to lose a locally-owned shopping option, we can't resist a good deal. Nearly two years after bringing cult-cool brands like Comme des Garçons, Clare Vivier, Topo Designs, Engineered Garments, and more to Culver City's sleepy shopping stretch of Washington Boulevard, minimalist-cool boutique Gramercy York is shuttering its brick-and-mortar shop this week.
Shop owner Henry Ikemiya tells us that although he decided not to renew the lease, he hopes to reopen elsewhere in Culver City. "I sort of like the area on West Washington, where A Frame and all the restaurants are popping up," he tells us. Fans of the shop can say their final goodbyes with some retail therapy today and tomorrow, when inventory will be marked down at up to 70% off. Ikemiya tells us store hours will be "random," so shoot him an email at info@gramercyyork.com at or give the shop a ring at (310) 280-1102 to confirm it's open.
Until the store finds a new IRL home, Gramercy York's e-shop is still open for business and will be stocking new merch, like giftables, accessories, and bags from Japan and Europe.
