Here's one way to max out your karma-earning card. If your jewelry game is all about globally-conscious gems, make your way to top-notch consignment shop Lucky You Resale Boutique. Already saving our wallets and the earth with its budget-friendly merch, the Valley Village shop went one step further, adopting a Kenyan village and offering handmade beaded accoutrements crafted by its artisans to its inventory.
Priced from $15 to $100, the range of earrings, necklaces and bracelets are made by Maasai women from the village of Ongata-Rongai, with all proceeds benefitting clean water initiatives and education. "There are so many ways to help the world, so I felt compelled to do something small in a great way," store owner Idrea Lippman tells us. The women "walk four miles to get water for the day from a well. The easiest way to rectify this burden is to hire a company to assemble water lines from the water to the village; it's an expensive but important project."
