October is breast cancer awareness month, but Santa Monica based brand, Beautycounter has created an initiative to focus on awareness and prevention.
With scary statistics such as 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S., up from 1 in 20, 50 years ago, surfacing, the beauty brand is committed to putting attention on prevention by supporting The Breast Cancer Fund, which is an organization on the front lines of educating the public, translating new science around breast cancer and the environment, and shaping policy to protect people from potentially harmful chemicals.
Beautycounter has pledged to donate $25,000 if and when they reach 1,000 new members for their Band of Beauty program this month. By joining Band of Beauty ($25), you are donating the full amount to The Breast Cancer Fund, plus are automatically enrolled for the next year in the brand's membership program, which includes free shipping on products, surprise gifts and being in-the-know about the beauty line's latest launches - perfect if you're already a fan of their non-toxic skincare, haircare and cosmetics and would love some extra perks.
