Last night, luxury shoes and shopping for an amazing cause came together at the Jimmy Choo boutique on Rodeo Dr. Hosted by Cindy Crawford and Katharina Harf, co-founder of Delete Blood Cancer DKMS, the evening attracted celebs and TV personalities, with 100 percent of the night's sales benefitting the charity
In addition to funds, the evening also raised awareness. Through speeches given by Crawford, who lost her brother to leukemia when she was 10-years-old, and Harf, plus a video documenting a 6-year-old girl's fight against the disease, guests learned that by getting a simple swab to the inner cheek, they could be a lifesaving match for someone in need of a bone marrow transplant.
"Only 30 percent of siblings are matches," said Crawford "The rest rely on strangers."
Crawford has been working with Delete Blood Cancer over the past 8 years, bringing attention to the cause as well as hosting events such as the evening with Jimmy Choo.
"Of course, I'm a big Jimmy Choo fan," Crawford noted, "So that doesn't hurt." "Well" a passing guest chimed in, "They sort of do hurt." Referring to the sleek pointy toed heels several shoppers were either wearing or trying on to purchase.
But, based on the energy of the evening, including the heartfelt accounts of matching patients with their donors, everyone was very happy to teeter in or try on pointy toe pumps and shop for a great cause.
