In addition to scoring an Aussie-filled designer deal haven, Santa Monica's Montana Avenue has also landed a globally-loved brand by way of Canada. Last week, Montreal-based luxe leathers label m0851 unveiled their first Cali boutique at LF Stores's former space on the coastal shopping stretch (LF relocated to 1522 Montana Ave). Located next door to Drybar and just down a few blocks down from Shopaholic Sample Sales, the shop is the brand's second U.S. location after their East Coast flagship in New York.
Founded by Frédéric Mamarbachi, the 27-year-old company is known for its minimalist-chic leather bags ($175 to $650), women's and men's outerwear ($905 to $1450), stylish scarves ($75 to $280) and travel accessories ($25 to $215)—all of which are well-stocked at its 1,200 square-foot boutique. Shop owner Carole Yu tells us that "after extensive location research that took over a year, I finally settled on Montana," which beat out other LA popular retail haunts in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Venice, and Downtown. "It's a great street to shop, I feel that the timing is right, there's a real neighborhood feel, and a lot of foot traffic," she adds.
m0851 is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
