Jai Franklin's stunning exotic features can be attributed to her Thai, Chinese, Irish, Polish and Scottish background. A star trainer at The Dailey Method in Venice, this born-and-raised Cali girl has a son named River, a dog named The Dude and a workout discipline that we're calling superhuman. "My favorite class to teach is on Mondays at 6am," she reveals, instantly triggering our sleeping-in guilt. "The clients that consistently show up every monday for that rise and shine are truly inspiring. They motivate me in more ways than they'll ever know! I always hope that they leave invigorated for their week ahead."
Devoted to The Dailey Method for two years strong, Franklin knew she was going to be a lifer at the popular Westside barre studio from the start. "I had always wanted to teach a fitness class, and the philosophy and people at the Method made it a natural choice," she explains. "Although I manage to act and write and raise my son outside of teaching, being an instructor has added an element to my life that I absolutely love; I feel like I'm a part of a community and a lifestyle."
While Franklin may have a sweet demeanor, she admits that she likes to teach a "hard" class. "Every class has a theme," she adds. "I keep the choreography simple, the work deep, the energy motivational and the music blasting. I definitely like to have fun while working hard." Her class song of choice is "Harlem Shake" by Baauer.
Because this multi-faceted trainer never ceases to surprise us, we leave you with this gem: "During college I worked in the library and thought it was the funnest job ever! Being paid to read? I'll always be a nerd at heart."
