If you, like Katy Perry, swoon over Tokyo's adorable cat-themed cafes, it's time to empty out your pockets. Ambitious Angeleno Carlos Wong has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to build LA's first Cat Cafe. The project's hefty price tag: $350,000.
Our sister site Eater LA notes that although Wong hasn't selected a location just yet (DTLA's Little Tokyo and SaMo's 3rd Street Promenade are on his wish list) he plans to open the cafe within six months—that is, if he collects the funds by his March 31st deadline. Funds would go to "licensing, permit fees, rent and operations" and "they'll be drawing the animals from shelters and promoting adoptions. Thusly, he plans to ask for help from local non-profits."
Hey, if LA can draw enough feline fiends to host the world's largest cat art show, why not take it to the next level? Donate here if you're down for the cause, because Wong has a long way to go.
