Rachel Roy is no stranger to West Coast living. From partying with her pal Kim K to jetsetting frequently to LA (and trekking through Skid Row like it's not even a thing), it was only a matter of time before the designer and mother of two swapped her long-time home base of NYC for the sunny City of Angels.
In an interview with Footwear News, the NorCal-raised designer reveals family and finances inspired her big move back to the Golden State. "I moved for my kids," she told the fashion trade pub, "to provide them with a kind of life that I'm sure some can provide here in New York, but you just have to be a billionaire to do it. [In LA] you don't. And I wanted the ocean." She hinted at the move last spring, telling NY gossip rag Page Six that "I've really learned that raising two girls in a little concrete box is just not healthy." And last October, she offered more insight to LA Confidential mag, adding that "my mother lives in California and it was important for my girls to grow up near her [...and] I wanted to give my girls the experience of living in a suburban environment."
Does this mean we'll see palm tree prints from Roy in the future? Only time will tell.
