Is there trouble on the HomeMint front for Santa Monica-based e-commerce startup BeachMint? After slashing prices to 70% off over the last several months, the home decor shopping site fronted by singer/actor/tech investor Justin Timberlake and interior designer Estee Stanley put up a "We're Remodeling" sign on its homepage today and announced it was going on an "extended staycation."
Mintsiders, however, received a less cryptically-worded email from the home goods brand that's only expected to fuel rumors of the celeb-backed BeachMint's potentially uncertain future. In an email blast sent to members last week, the interior design-focused Mint site—which launched just last spring—said "We've enjoyed transforming your space into a personal retreat. Thank you for welcoming us into your home!"
Are you bummed about the end of JT-picked pillows and bedsheets? Thoughts?
