Skaters and diehard sneaker enthusiasts alike congregated at Supra's new Santa Monica store last night to toast the kicks brand's third store opening and launch of its new, super-limited-edition Skytop III "LA" sneaker. The style, which exclusively hits Supra SaMo tomorrow, features a special waxed suede and comes with a custom Los Angeles City Hall hang tag.
The guest list was chock-full of pro skaters such as Jim Greco, Terry Kennedy, Boo Johnson and Chad Muska, who's no strange to the LA fashion scene. The Angeleno has collaborated on designs with Supra since the original Skytop, and threw a truly memorable one-day-only exhibition of his mixed media pieces last fall over at Flat425 on Fairfax. Muska recently described the revamped Skytop III as "part tech-runner and part basketball shoe, mixed in with the lines of the original Skytops."
Though there were plenty of skater boys on hand at the event, a surprise appearance by former Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe (now starring in the reboot of Dallas) solidified the fact that Supra footwear is not just for skaters anymore.
The Skytop III "LA" will be available exclusively at Supra's Santa Monica location starting tomorrow, but be prepared to fend off sneakerheads; this edition is strictly limited to 100 pairs.
