Yesterday, Dior swung open the doors of its newly refurbished Rodeo Drive boutique for shoppers. Editors and fashion writers, however, got a sneak peek of the 5,000-square-foot space earlier this week. After taking a spin around it, we can testify that it's truly as spectacular as it appears in the professionally-snapped photo above.
The store, which was designed by Peter Marino (aka the "leather daddy of luxury") is done up in shades of Dior gray and features a ton of artwork. Some of it, like a "couch" designed by Johnny Swing that's made of welded-together fifty-cent coins, is functional while other pieces, like a Pae White tapestry that appears from a distance to be a blown-up photo of crumpled aluminum foil, is just pretty to look at.
The shop is stocked with Dior's pricey ready-to-wear, bag, shoe and jewelry collections, with a few pieces exclusive to the location. And for celebrity clients and others who prefer a more-private shopping environment, there's a VIP salon on the second floor.
