Take the taste-making tendencies of Opening Ceremony and mix it with the too-cool designs of Suno, and you have yourself the perfect recipe for a stellar Sunday soirée. Last night the cult-favorite concept store hosted a party to celebrate their fresh resort shipment of the NY-based brand's designs.
In addition to offering partygoers like actresses Gillian Zinser and Brie Larson first dibs on designers Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis' sportswear-inspired resort range (which you can snap up in-store now!), the fete featured a sneak peek at their spring 2013 looks of floral and printed perfection. "Our collections—especially resort—go really well in LA because they're all upbeat, wearable and comfortable," Beatty explains. "We design what women actually want to wear as opposed to what we imagine women wearing—there's a big difference."
Suno's LA vibe can be attributed to Beatty, who studied at UCLA before nurturing her talent at Parsons in New York. The former Angeleno revealed to us that she expects to do some serious retail damage while she's out here at spots like Creatures of Comfort (7971 Melrose Ave), Sateen (8134 W 3rd St), Maxfield (8825 Melrose Ave) and, of course, Opening Ceremony. She's also digging our burgeoning foodie scene: "My boyfriend and I went to Axe [pronounced 'ah-shay'] in Venice last night—it was so perfect!"
