James Franco's latest art project, named Rebel, opens at JF Chen next week. The exhibit, which was sponsored by Gucci and 7 For All Mankind, is a "meditation on James Dean." The show features work by Paul McCarthy, Ed Ruscha and Terry Richardson and explores the film Rebel Without a Cause through sculpture, film, photography, painting, drawing and more. Franco's not only a curator, he's also an participant: Guests will be able to view his video, titled Brad Renfro Forever, as part of the exhibit.
Franco granted Style.com an interview this morning at 7:30am, and though the discussion was focused on his new project, they did manage to get his take on last night's Met Ball (Franco attended with performance artist Marina Abramovic). His response: "It was fine. It was my first time. It’s just a nice dinner, with every celebrity you can think of."
"Rebel" runs from May 15th through June 23rd; the opening night party will be Saturday, May 12th from 8 to 10pm.
