Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Tyler Wells, co-founder of Handsome Coffee Roasters is a rule-breaker. When we asked the stylish Angeleno to name one of his favorite LA shopping destinations, he decided to give us two—and a bonus eatery. In the spirit of TGIF, we let it slide. From two denim havens to an old school grubbery, behold Wells' beloved West Coast haunts.
"Please don't make me choose! Can I choose two or three? I love The Nudie House (710 N. Edinburgh Ave) and SelfEdge (144 N. La Brea Ave) because I like denim and nice people, and these places have both in spades. The Nudie House is the only Nudie-owned outpost in the country, so they have merch that you can't find anywhere else, like prototypes and one-offs. They're also very affordable. SelfEdge is just a denim dork's heaven: they have super rare Japanese and American denim—mostly selvedge. They'll probably brew you a coffee if you ask politely. I also have to shout-out McCall's Meat and Fish on Hillhurst. I love old school skills and crafts, and you don't see a lot of neighborhood butchers these days. I think Nathan McCall knows the name of everyone who walks in the door. The staff is attentive and outgoing, just like it was 1955."
