The Brooklyn-based label still hasn't confirmed a collab with Target to design a spring '09 handbag collection, but Hayden-Harnett is definitely expanding its label to include shoes and swimwear for spring. Designer Toni Hacker told WWD about the nine-style shoe collection: “The designs are definitely Eighties influenced, specifically 1980 and 1981...It’s very ‘Working Girl’ meets ‘Xanadu’ meets Memphis design." The trade notes details such as "colorblocking, weaves and appliqué with colors anchored in neutral palettes and predominant colors blueberry, ginger and aqua."
Designing a bikini for Anthropologie, the success of which exceeded the label's expectations, became the impetus for the swim collection. Per the pub: "The line showcases the company’s signature in-house prints on nylon and spandex fabric and ranges in price from $88 for a ruffled pinup bottom to $148 for a ruched keyhole maillot."
Other potential developments for the brand include "a possible opening of a boutique in Grand Central Terminal early next year, along with a project with Pony Footwear."
