Party (S)hopping: Avita Co-Op Celebrates Earth Day, Plus an American Rag Partnership
Thursday, April 24, 2008, by Tasha

West 3rd Street is becoming quite the eco-spot with Vie and Romp opening up Tuesday night, joining eco-cashmere haven Avita Co-Op in the neighborhood, which just celebrated its one-year anniversary in conjunction with Earth Day. People came out in hoards for the event, which featured a bunch of eco-designers from Germany (Mandala Eco de Luxe) to Iceland (Unnur), Spain (Skunk Funk) to Canada (BYOB), plus cocktails and small bites. All fun and festive, but the big news is the Avita Co-Op partnership between boutique owner and designer of the line Amanda Shi and American Rag CEO/Founder Mark Werts—also Shi's main squeeze. This means Avita has some serious backing, and perhaps a long future ahead on West 3rd Street and beyond, as long as the mixing business with pleasure thing keeps being pleasurable. [RackedWire]
