Neighborhood Watch: West 3rd Street Upping Its Game

A couple times a year, the retailers and restaurants of West 3rd Street host late-night shopping events where people come to walk the stretch between Fairfax and La Cienega, drink some free booze, snacks, gelato, and tacos, and, hopefully—and most importantly—shop and return on a regular basis. The number of people who come to these events has continued to increase, but there have been mixed feeling from business owners as to how much they gain from the shopping events. It seems like the org behind the events, the West 3rd Street Business Association (made up of those very same owners) is stepping up its game with a full-fledged website, complete with merchant directory, events/news, map/tour, and mailing list sections. Helmed by president Joan McNamara (owner of Joan's on Third) and VP-ed by Deborah Wolsh (owner of Ethel), we'll be curious to see how the association's efforts progress. The next late-night shopping event on May 1 from 6pm-9pm commemorates the site launch. Let this be a formal request for Douglas Fir or Rodan vs Griffith to pull out the taco cart. [Racked Inbox]
