Surviving the pore-pressure of HD television is something Lea Michele knows all about (Scream Queens loves a good close-up), and she's been known to make the rounds at some of the best spas in LA. The actress is totally dedicated to keeping her face fresh and healthy despite the demands of Hollywood, and underneath the constant application of primer and foundation that her on-screen time requires.
In addition to getting a good night's sleep and drinking lots of water (she does both), Michele works hard to keep it natural with sulfate-free products following her appointment as the new ambassador for Burt's Bees campaign to #BringBackTheBees (pink grapefruit is her favorite scent in the lineup, specifically the Limited Edition Lip Balm), and she's relishing the chance to give back with the brand's wildflower-planting initiative, aimed toward increasing the honeybee population. We sat down with Michele and not only did she encourage us to plant a garden and buy fresh, local produce, we also got the scoop on her holistic approach to beauty, her go-to LA facialist, and her current favorite beauty products.
How important is staying natural when it comes to skincare?
I think that what we put on our body and what we put in our body should be as natural as possible! Sometimes when you're using all natural products, you have the preconceived notion that it's not going to work as effectively as something that has chemicals, but that's not the case.
Where in LA do you head for the best facial?
I have the best skin guru in the entire world. Her name is Shani Darden and she's completely saved my skin. I adore her!
And where do you go to get pampered?
I go to the Beverly Hot Springs all the time. I'm more into a natural retreat, so I soak in the hot springs, get scrubs, and stuff like that. That's really my favorite thing to do.
What are some of your must-have skincare products?
My favorite right now is Burt's Bees facial cleansing towlettes. I can come home with tons of makeup on from working all day long and the face wipes get rid of all the makeup and the dirt and leave my face feeling so refreshed (and they don't harm my skin at the same time). I also adore the Radiance body lotion—it has this shimmer and it's made with Royal Jelly. I used it today! Everyone stops me and they're like, "What do you have on your skin, you're literally glowing" and it's so good because I love something that works so effectively, but yet at the same time it's all natural, so you know you're doing something good for your skin. Every makeup artist was talking about using it.
