Here's yet another retail therapy road trip option, this time courtesy of our coastal cousin Huntington Beach. The surf-minded 'hood is expecting a wave of new stores, restaurants and residences in the form of Pacific City, a massive oceanfront retail center set to open next summer.
California Apparel News reports the luxe 11-acre development will house about 40 clothing shops and 20 eateries, plus a hotel, housing and an artisanal foods marketplace. In addition, Pacific City will boast drought-tolerant landscaping and beach bungalow-style California Craftsman vibes, but sans the stereotypical sandals-and-surfboards decor. Linda Berman, a rep for developer DJM Capital Partners, tells the fashion trade pub that "this will not be about surf theme this and that. We'd like to surprise people a little bit."
So far, pretty people gym Equinox is the only confirmed tenant; no word yet on the retailers expected to sign on. Stay tuned as we find out more.
